![]() For generations, the military has been an outstanding way to help pay the cost of college. Today's National Guard has plenty of ways to help pay for college, besides just your monthly drill pay. Call 1 (800) 492-2526 for more information, e-mail us, or check out this info: The Montgomery GI BillFor full-time students, the Montgomery GI Bill will pay $208.93 each month for the first three years of college. That's over $7,500 total! If you are a part-time student, those payments will be spread out over a longer period of time, but the total is still $7,521.48. The Army Continuing Education System (ACES)If you have already used up your GI Bill money, or are ineligible for some reason, the ACES program will reimburse up to $510 per semester toward your tuition, or 75% of what you pay, whichever is less. Unlike the Montgomery GI Bill, this program will even help pay for graduate courses. You must get at least a "C" in each course in order to receive this assistance ("B" in graduate courses.) State Tuition AssistanceMaryland National Guard members who are also Maryland residents are eligible for additional money from the state. The state will reimburse up to $500 a semester, or 50% of your tuition, whichever is less. This program has a maximum payment of $4000 over your career in the Guard. State Tuition WaiverThe newest college assistance program from the state of Maryland. If you are enrolled in a state-supported college or university, you can receive a 25% to 50% discount on your tuition. This discount applies only to classes with sufficient space. Some community colleges, as well as Bowie State University, have volunteered to provide additional help to guard members under this program. DANTES Educational Assistance Programs
On-Site College CoursesSeveral colleges and universities now offer undergraduate and graduate classes right at National Guard locations, with special discounts or considerations for guard members. For instance, these courses all qualify for the State Tuition Waiver program, regardless of available space. These courses are taught at Camp Fretterd, Laurel Armory, Olney Military Reservation, and Warfield Air Base. Colleges which offer courses at our sites are:
